Writing Bureau No.1 is a finely constructed 1/12-scale wooden miniature writing bureau, handcrafted with close attention to proportion, structure, and function.
Made in Japan from walnut, the bureau features a hinged fall-front that opens to form a writing surface, revealing six small functional drawers within the fitted interior. A larger drawer is set beneath the writing compartment and can be drawn slightly forward to support the fall-front when open.
The drawer fronts and sides are secured with individually fitted 0.8 mm wooden pegs, reflecting traditional furniture-making principles at miniature scale. Turned legs, small wooden knobs, and a restrained carved detail on the closed fall-front complete the piece while allowing the natural grain and character of the walnut to remain prominent.
Designed to be appreciated both open and closed, this piece is intended as miniature furniture for display, collection, and quiet appreciation.
